Gaspe Outdoors André-Pierre Minville

Hello, my name is André-Pierre Minville (Gaspe Outdoor) and I’m an avid hunter, fisherman, trapper and outdoorsman. I’m originally from Grande-Vallée in Gaspésie and have been living in Gaspé for the past 7 years. It was my father who introduced me to hunting, being an avid hunter himself. So in 2000, as soon as I obtained my hunter’s certificate, I started hunting small game. You could say I got the bug, because since then I haven’t missed a single hunting season. I was introduced to moose hunting in 2004, harvested my first one in 2009 and since then I’ve been lucky enough to harvest several moose, including some beautiful bulls. I’ve also hunted black bear and deer on a few occasions. I’m lucky enough to live in the Gaspé Peninsula and to enjoy a territory full of nearby game!

I’ve been fishing speckled trout since I was very young and striped bass since it was reopened. I then discovered Atlantic salmon fishing on our fabulous Gaspé rivers. So I have a passion and experience for fly fishing and I’m pretty lucky with salmon!

A great adventure and a great passion

In 2006, I decided to take my PGAF training course and become a trapper. For me, it was the beginning of a great adventure and a great passion. I taught myself by reading all the literature available at the time, as social networks and YouTube were much less diverse than they are today. I’ve been trapping intensively for over a decade, and have learned an enormous amount about everything related to this field. From beavers to martens, lynxes and coyotes, I’ve developed effective techniques that have enabled me to make great harvests year after year. Then, for lack of time, I had to put trapping aside for a few years to work on other projects.

YouTube channel, Gaspe Outdoors

I created my YouTube channel, Gaspe Outdoors, to share my passion and experience of hunting, fishing and trapping. This fall, with a lot of free time on my hands, I decided to go for it and create some quality content, mainly about trapping. I found that there wasn’t much informative French-language content available on the platform for this industry, which deserves to be better known. My aim is to film and share my passion, enabling beginners and the more experienced alike to learn a wide range of tips and methods for most species of fur-bearing animals. I’m seeing a craze for trapping on social networks, and there seems to be a lot of young people thirsting for knowledge. Today, the emphasis is no longer on quantity, but rather on the quality of time spent in nature and the connection with it. So I’ve got several episodes available about trapping different species, setting traps and catching animals.

I also have episodes focusing on different trapping tips and techniques. Of course, I have good videos of small game hunting, moose hunting and salmon and brook trout fishing. By browsing my channel, you’ll discover a multitude of enriching videos. I’m also passionate about photography, videography and editing. I use state-of-the-art equipment, which allows me to present high-definition content and quality production.
