Descriptions:

An Alaskan moose complains about not fighting nature. Our good elk friends Grumpy and Mismatch are back. The rut has begun, the velvet (and gloves) are off; it’s time to round up the cows and defend them against the other males. We know Mismatch won’t be fighting due to his history/injuries, but he’s still an active player and ready this year for the rut. It’s on Grumpy’s territory and he’s not welcome.

Once again, we followed the moaning sounds, assuming it was a cow with another bull, but no, it was Mismatch, begging Grumpy to forgive his intrusion. The only difference this time was that they almost came to blows when they both started shaking their heads at each other.

We were surprised. But no shots were fired, as you’ll see… It’s always amazing to see how these animals interact, and we learn something from them every time we go out. We never tire of it. Mismatch seems to be a respected member of the local Big Bull Moose; all he wants is a couple of cows. Couldn’t someone spare a few for this poor boy?

Thanks for watching our channel, we’re the husband/wife team of Rick and Libby Libbey, (Libby squared), New Hampshire wildlife photographers (and part-time Alaskans.) It’s our passion to document wildlife of all kinds, but elk are definitely at the top. In New Hampshire, we spend many of our spring and summer kayaking hours photographing loons and elk in New Hampshire waters. And we hike miles and miles in Alaska in search of all kinds of animals. wild We sell prints of our matted, framed, metal or canvas images. information :To find much more of our content on Nikon/Sony gear, techniques and all things wildlife, click on the links below. To find out more about our content on Nikon gear, techniques and all things wildlife, click on the links below.
