Clay Hayes Hunter Bowhunting Idaho Whitetails

As we were preparing the elk camp in early September, one of the local farmers dropped by and told us he’d seen a lot of deer in a bean field the previous evening. With archery season in full swing in the western states, Liz and I head out to see if we can catch an early season buck. As the deer feed in the fields at night, we find a suitable spot in a wooded funnel to set up our watchtowers.

Less than half an hour after we’d set up, a huge male passed just 60 meters away, but well outside Liz’s range. Then a big doe comes along, but Liz can’t draw her bow without spooking it. After sunset, we dismantle the watchtowers and move them the next day to the spot where the big bull crossed.

We make the best traditional archery, bow making, recurve hunting, craftsmanship and survival videos on the web.

Join Clay, Liz and the kids on their outdoor adventures, from bowhunting deer and elk in the mountains of Idaho to hunting wild hogs in Florida, and practicing crafts and survival skills. We hunt and fish because we love it, but it’s also how we get most of our meat.

Hunting is our way of life. We also cultivate a large garden on our Idaho property. This, combined with hunting, fishing and gathering, is how we obtain most of our food.
