Clay Hayes Hunter Build and shoot automatic bows at the Tennessee Classic 3D Archery ShootThe Tennessee Classic is a 3D archery shoot held in May, just north of Nashville, Tennessee. Unlike most shoots, the Tennessee Classic attracts a large number of primitive archers and automatic bow shooters. One of the most interesting parts of the event is called the Selfbow Challenge. The rules are pretty simple: build a primitive bow on site and shoot the course with it!”This was my first time taking part in the Classic, so I decided to take on the selfbow challenge. To do something a little different, I made a recurve bow from an orange osage bow stave I got from Jim Hammer. It rained the day I finished the bow, so I shot the first part of the 3D target course with a laminated bow.The next day, I finished the course with my new bow.I also had the opportunity to shoot some Asian horn bows from James Parker, which was amazing. These horn and sinew bows can pack a lot of punch in a very small package. Don’t forget to subscribe to the channel. We hunt and fish because we love it, but it’s also how we get most of our meat. Hunting is our way of life. We also cultivate a large garden on our Idaho property. This, combined with hunting, fishing and gathering, is how we obtain most of our food.
