Clay Hayes Hunter Pemmican – The ultimate survival foodPemmican has long been a staple of Native Americans and backcountry hunters. It’s the ultimate survival food, and in my opinion, it’s better than any energy bar or backpacker food. In this videoHere, I’ll show you how to make pemmican with a very simple recipe. Basically, pemmican is simply dried meat and rendered fat, also known as tallow. When prepared with meat, fat and possibly dried berries, pemmican is a stable survival food that keeps for decades without refrigeration. If you like food preservation, you’ll want to add it to your arsenal. Today, I’ll be using beef tallow, dried elk meat, dried blueberries and dates, as well as pecans.Because of the oils and moisture in the nuts, my version won’t have a very long shelf life, but it will last far longer than necessary. Don’t forget to subscribe to the channel. Every week we post a new video on one of the following subjects: archery, bow hunting, bow making, survival techniques, bushcraft, self-reliance, primitive techniques, primitive bows, hunting, camping, fishing.Surviving alone by Clay Hayes – https://amzn.to/3Qqou3lUn Many thanks to our partners who help us fund these videos! Join Clay, Liz and the kids on their outdoor adventures, from bowhunting deer and elk in the mountains of Idaho to hunting wild hogs in Florida, and practicing crafts and survival skills. We hunt and fish because we love it, but it’s also how we get most of our meat. Hunting is our way of life. We also cultivate a large garden on our Idaho property. This, combined with hunting, fishing and gathering, is how we obtain most of our food.
