Clay Hayes Hunter The Hayes IDAHO Homestead – behind the scenes

I thought some of you might be interested in visiting our little property in northern Idaho. We bought this small farmhouse and 20 acres in 2010 and have been building ever since.

When most people need something done, they start looking for someone to hire. But my mind doesn’t work that way. We do just about everything ourselves, from growing our own food to felling trees, logging, all kinds of construction work and even using used vegetable oil to run the locomotive!

In this VLOG, we take a look at the earth. Then we’ll review the renovation work we’re doing with rustic old barn wood and rough lumber we’ve sawn ourselves. If you’re on Patreon, you’ve already seen part of it when we borrowed a neighbor’s portable sawmill, felled some large pines and firs, and sawed up the boards. Since then, they have been drying in the barn, ready for use.

We’re in the middle of a major renovation project for the kitchen and terrace living area. Eventually, we’ll build an outdoor kitchen and a space for canning garden vegetables.

We’re in a farming area, and our nearest neighbor is just a few kilometers down the road. We have white-tailed and mule deer on our property. We also saw elk, elk, black bear and all sorts of small game. We’ll also talk about what we’re doing for wildlife habitat.

Don’t forget to subscribe to the channel. Every week we upload a new video on one of the following topics: archery, bowhunting, bowmaking, survival techniques, bushcraft, self-reliance, primitive techniques, primitive bows, hunting, camping, fishing, and much more!

We make the best traditional archery, bow making, recurve hunting, craftsmanship and survival videos on the web.

Join Clay, Liz and the kids on their outdoor adventures, from bowhunting deer and elk in the mountains of Idaho to hunting wild hogs in Florida, and practicing crafts and survival skills. We hunt and fish because we love it, but it’s also how we get most of our meat.

Hunting is our way of life. We also cultivate a large garden on our Idaho property. This, combined with hunting, fishing and gathering, is how we obtain most of our food.
