Clay Hayes Hunter Three ways to string a longbow, recurve or self-bow without the help of a bowfitter
There are many different ways to string a traditional bow. In this video, I show three of them, two without bow tensioner and one with. The first method is a step-through, which works well for long arcs or other arcs with straight branches. I don’t like this method for recurve bows because it’s uncomfortable and there’s a risk of twisting the tips and damaging the bow.The second method is called the “push pull” stringing method and also works very well for long bows. With a slight modification, it also works for recurve bows. Finally, I show you how to use a bow tensioner, which is a popular and easy method for tensioning longbows, recurves and all kinds of primitive wooden bows. They are also easy to make with a short piece of paracord.Don’t forget to subscribe to the channel for more tips on traditional archery, bow making, primitive bows, survival and bushcraft, the bowhunting, etc.https://www.patreon.com/clayhayesSite web : http://www.twistedstave.com/Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/twistedstave/Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/clayhayeshunter/ (tagsTranslate)string a longbow

We make the best traditional archery, bow making, recurve hunting, craftsmanship and survival videos on the web. Join Clay, Liz and the kids on their outdoor adventures, from bowhunting deer and elk in the mountains of Idaho to hunting wild hogs in Florida, and practicing crafts and survival skills. We hunt and fish because we love it, but it’s also how we get most of our meat. Hunting is our way of life. We also cultivate a large garden on our Idaho property. This, combined with hunting, fishing and gathering, is how we obtain most of our food.
