Elvis the Bull Moose -Dripping Gobs of Velvet

We came across this handsome male moose shedding his velvet, looking rather macabre. One of nature’ s most amazing events: the way the antlers grow, are nurtured, then towards the end of August, they’re done growing and the velvet is raked. He’s busy eating the Devil’s Club (aka the Devil’s Cane ) here, (how they can eat all those stickers/spines is amazing) and he comes across a cow doing the same. (The images in the background are of the cow and her twin calves (not seen in the video) making their way through the alders). We found it a few days later, having lost/picked up all the velvet. He’s a very handsome boy in a tough rack. It’s nice of him to pose like he did before with the velvet.
