Epic loon fight!

Epic loon fight! Warning; there is graphic content here that some viewers may find disturbing. Please watch the entire piece to see the result.(Spoiler alert; all are well). The legends tell the story, but I’ve left them out of the actual battle sequence so you don’t have to read and watch at the same time. I think that’s self-explanatory, but read on for more.Rick and I photograph loons in the New Hampshire for more than ten years. kayak on the ponds/lakes and photograph these amazing animals, but we sit for long periods being with them and observing their behavior. I filmed this sequence, but I can assure you that neither Rick nor I have ever seen anything like it before. Never. Of course, there are occasional arguments, confrontations and even fights between lunatics. But they’re usually over before a decent photo/video can be taken. plugA penguin show and some pictures of walk That’s exactly how the day went, since my early morning arrival at the pond, where I discovered that the loons had just hatched their chicks. These Chicks Before going any further, I must make a correction; in the video, I thought it was the female who was fighting because of the leg bands (the freeze frame showed them) but this is apparently not the case as only the male can yodel, it must be the male who fought and whose voice was damaged. So the information I was given about the leg bands was wrong – it’s the MALE that’s fighting here. Anyway, sorry about that. But still, read on and enjoy/share!”Shortly after finding the family, a raving lunatic arrived. It happens all the time. These scouts are often simply looking for a territory of their own, or a place where they can spend the summer before returning to the ocean for the winter. But sometimes they’re there for more nefarious purposes. Nature is amazing, and there’s always something to learn from it. If we wait and watch long enough. (Brutal, yes, but so are humans). Thanks for watching our channel, we’re the husband/wife team of Rick and Libby Libbey, (Libby squared), New Hampshire (and Alaska part-time) wildlife photographers. It’s our passion to document wildlife in all its forms, but elk are definitely at the top of the list. In New Hampshire, we spend many of our spring and summer kayaking hours photographing loons and elk in New Hampshire waters. And we hike miles and miles in Alaska in search of all kinds of wildlife in the fall.To find out more about Nikon/Sony equipment, techniques and wildlife, click on the links below.
