Episode 10: Aoudad hunting in West Texas

Craig and Donna Boddington travel to the rugged mountains and canyons of West Texas to hunt North America’s “other sheep”, the aoudad or Barbary sheep, introduced from North Africa a generation ago. Hunter Ross of Desert Safaris shows the Boddingtons more wild sheep than they’ve ever seen… in rugged, beautiful country.

Hunter Ross of Desert Safaris is an extremely capable young hunter and outfitter, operating mainly in the incredibly large mountains of West Texas, with a few hunts in New Mexico. He’s the superstar of free-range aoudad hunting, does great work with desert mule deer and has a few “sleeper” spots for big elk.

I’ve hunted aoudad, mule deer and pronghorn with him… he’s a lot of fun to hunt with and I love the great country he operates in. I don’t think it’s possible to beat the aoudad I took with him earlier this year… but we’ll give it a try in February!
