EPISODE 25: TESTOSTERONE, GUT HEALTH, SEX & DIET

In this episode of Gritty Bowmen, we meet Ryan and Hillary Lampers of Hunt, Harvest, Health.

About a month ago, Aron Snyder celebrated his 4th birthday. And I’m about to turn 43. We’re not really old, but we’re not spring chickens either. We’re in good shape for two older people – in fact, we’re in better shape today than we were in our early thirties – and we’re very happy about it. But fathers’ time isn’t going backwards, and it’s more important than ever to live well, both physically and emotionally.

That’s why I’m pleased to welcome Dr. Hillary Lampers and my good friend Ryan Lampers, aka Donnie Vincent Lampers, to today’s episode of Gritty Bowmen. Ryan is an absolute champion bowhunter on public land. His wife Hillary is a doctor, but not an ordinary one, which I generally distrust unless it’s an absolute emergency. Hillary is the kind of doctor who treats the root causes of physical distress rather than simply prescribing drugs to treat the symptoms.

Hillary and Ryan launched a podcast last December called Hunt Harvest Health – and I’m thrilled! I listened to their podcasts on backcountry meal prep, gardening, testosterone, cortisol and other hormones, gut health and the second brain, hunting and more. The past year has been a whirlwind of life-changing events for me. It’s true that I’m not as fit and I don’t feel as froglike as I did a year ago.

If you have small children while you’re listening to this podcast, you may want to revisit this episode when they’re gone. This is a discussion about health – not the time to be squeamish. We talk about things like poop, S.E.X., how to increase testosterone, love languages, and so on. You’ve been warned.

Some of you may think that this “health stuff” is boring or that this medical discourse is too complex, but it’s not, and I truly believe that this information can be life-changing. So I encourage you to take notes. And when you’ve finished this podcast, subscribe to the HUNT HARVEST HEALTH PODCAST and continue learning how to nurture your Temple of Power.
