We’ve been waiting to tell this story. You heard snippets of it last month, but it’s time for you to see what happened between Flat Top and Swagger. Nature keeps many of its secrets, we’ll never know everything, and that’s okay. But here’s what we do know! Libby’s narration will tell the story this morning, so we feel the best thing to do in this text is to give an overview of the chronology of the week in which it happened.To begin with, the fight took place in mid-September, which is quite typical of the period when scores begin to be settled. The fight took place on Monday evening, most likely in the middle of the night, well before dawn. How do we know this? The elk hair found on the ground was covered with a thick frost (first reported by one of our friends), meaning that the fight took place several hours before dawn, perhaps even the night before.Tuesday morning…fight scene foundTuesday evening… . I filmed FT23 with some cows 800 meters above where Swagger was partying. We shared a two-part video on this subject… The second part can be viewed here – CHAOS CRAZY AT BIG BULL MOOSE SWAGGER…Thursday…we sat around for over 10 hours that day doing nothing, but Michael finally caught FT23 refusing an invitation to fight from Swagger at dusk.BETWEEN THURSDAY AND SUNDAY, THEY HAD TO FIGHT A SECOND TIME.Sunday… It was THE day. FT23 had all the girls and threw a big party in the rutting pit. Swagger arrived to try and claim, but Flat Top had other plans for him and aggressively charged him, Swagger turned away in defeat and disappeared for the rest of the rut.I’ve tried to make a diagram so you can understand the timeline.
