Created in 1984 by the Quebec government to acquire wetlands along the St. Lawrence, the Fondation de la faune du Québec is a parapublic organization reporting to the Minister of Forests, Wildlife and Parks.

Recognized as a registered charity since 1987, the Foundation is authorized to issue tax receipts. As early as 1988, the Foundation secured stable, recurring funding from contributions made by all Quebec anglers, hunters and trappers.

The Foundation provides financial and technical assistance for projects to protect and enhance wildlife and its habitat. Each year, it finances just over 700 projects across Quebec.

Our mission

The Foundation’s mission is to promote the conservation and enhancement of wildlife and its habitat.

Our vision

The Foundation’s team devotes its energy, creativity and passion to conserving Quebec’s biodiversity.

Recognized for the strength of its network of partners and its irreproachable ethics, the Foundation acts as a catalyst for projects with tangible effects for the protection and enhancement of natural environments.

Our values

Maintaining biodiversity

The Foundation’s scope of action covers all wildlife species native to Quebec. Protecting ecosystems that are important for wildlife and intervening to help species whose situation is deemed worrying are at the heart of its concerns.

Sustainable community development

In its work for wildlife, the Foundation seeks to produce long-term effects. It pays particular attention to projects aimed at conserving or enhancing wildlife habitats that support economic activity and thus contribute to the development of local communities.

The partnership

The Foundation cannot intervene alone throughout Quebec. Over the years, partnership has become a key element of our business. In terms of wildlife, this has resulted in the mobilization of various local players to carry out wildlife projects. From a financial point of view, the Foundation encourages networking between its partners and projects in the field.

Rigor and fairness

Every year, the Foundation handles several hundred requests for financial assistance for a wide variety of projects. Committed to making the best decisions to maximize the results of its investments, it ensures that these requests are handled with the utmost rigor and that the decisions taken are fair and equitable.
