A giant moose in the valley

August 23 is always one of our favorite days of the year for Team MooseMan. This day is considered by many to be the first day of the velvet molt for moose, wherever they live. In the world of moose, velvet molt is predictable, but there are also exceptions: some males molt on the same day every year. Older, larger males tend to moult earlier than younger males. Although the 23rd is known as the average moulting day, some males may not moult until the end of the month. In one study, a renowned moose biologist in Alaska observed a male shedding his velvet on September 10, but this is quite unusual. One thing’s for sure: a moose‘s moult date can vary from the first to the fifth year, but once it has reached maturity, it can moult regularly every year. I hope you enjoy today’s images of Flat Top, Cowboy and TJ. Thanks for watching our channel, we’re the husband/wife team from Rick and Libby Libbey(Libby squared), wildlife photographers from New Hampshire (and part-time from Alaska.) It’s our passion to document wildlife in all its forms, but elk are definitely at the top.In New Hampshire, we spend much of our spring and summer hours kayaking and photographing loons and elk in New Hampshire waters. In autumn, we travel many miles in Alaska in search of all kinds of wild animals. Here’s our information:You can watch more videos on this link.Youtube : https://bit.ly/YTMooseManSiteweb : https://bit.ly/WebMooseManInstagram :https://bit.ly/IGMooseManNOUVEAU* Twitter : https://bit.ly/TWMooseManNOUVEAU* Pinterest : https://bit.ly/PTMooseMan#moosephotography #mooseofinstagram #wildlifephotographer #alaskaRick & Libby Libbey ownersAndover, NH 03216source
