The excellence of Monts-Valin

Located just over 100 km from Chicoutimi, Monts-Valin Du Archer Outfitter has 52 km2 of game territory with exclusive hunting and fishing rights.

It has 42 native trout lakes. What’s more, these lakes are part of Quebec’s largest breeding ground for pure native trout, the Croissant Vermeil.

The unique character of our rustic log cabins, dating back to the time of our ancestors, is sure to bring you moments of pure happiness.

A warm and courteous welcome, delicious meals and outstanding service will meet the expectations of even the most demanding customers.

The territory of Pourvoirie Monts-Valin du Archer is one of the highest in the area. At 620 meters above sea level, it boasts lakes as far as the eye can see, as well as a wide variety of wildlife. The exclusive, game-filled territory offers customers a wide range of fishing and hunting thrills. For mountain bikers, cyclists and hikers, the outfitter offers a number of well-trodden trails for your enjoyment.

The outfitter has been in existence since the early 1960s. Since then, there have been 5 owners.

The first is Club Hygienic de Cuisines Rochette (Léo Rochette, Armand Rochette, his son), in Quebec City. they owned the property for around 10 years. They built the first cottages. Accessible only by bush plane.

The Picard brothers, Mr. Raymond and Mr. Albert, from Chicoutimi, owned the outfitter from 1972 to 1995, some 25 years. They went on to build more cottages and develop it further. These were courageous men, even though the roads were non-existent until the early 1980s. Hence the origin of Raymond and Albert lakes. Initially only accessible by bush plane. True builders, accompanied by their collaborators.

Fish were plentiful. Trout up to 6 lbs were caught. (Lac Albert, Mr. Abel Simard, janitor in 1980).

Raymond Picard‘s son, Pierre, became the owner in 1995. He had already taken over in 1992 following the death of his father. Hence the origin of Lac Pierre. He was the owner for about 10 years. Other cottages were added and the clientele expanded. He continued the tradition established by his father Raymond and his uncle Albert with his collaborators. Mr Pierre Martin became the owner in 2003. He continued to help the outfitter grow. In 2008, Jonathan Perreault and Josianne and Bernard St-Louis realized their dream of owning an outfitting operation.
