The excellence of Monts-Valin

The outfitter has been in existence since the early 1960s. Since then, there have been 5 owners.

The first is Club Hygienic de Cuisines Rochette (Léo Rochette, Armand Rochette, his son), in Quebec City. they owned the property for around 10 years. They built the first cottages. Accessible only by bush plane.

Les frères Picard Pourvoirie Monts-Valin Du Archer

Later, the Picard brothers, M. Raymond and M. Albert, of Chicoutimi, owned the outfitter from 1972 to 1995, some 25 years. They went on to build more cottages and develop it further. Very brave men, when the roads were non-existent until the early 1980s. Hence the origin of Raymond and Albert lakes. Initially only accessible by bush plane. True builders, accompanied by their collaborators.

Fish were plentiful. Trout up to 6 lbs were caught. (Lac Albert, Mr. Abel Simard, janitor in 1980).

Raymond Picard’s son, Pierre, became the owner in 1995. He had already taken over in 1992 following the death of his father. Hence the origin of Lac Pierre. He was the owner for about 10 years. Other cottages were added and the clientele expanded. He continued the tradition established by his father Raymond and his uncle Albert with his collaborators. Mr Pierre Martin became the owner in 2003. He continued to help the outfitter grow. In 2008, Jonathan Perreault and Josianne and Bernard St-Louis realized their dream of owning an outfitting operation.
