Some moose are big, but others are gigantic. Hello from the MooseMan team. It’s always a pleasure to share a new video with everyone. The theme of this clip is all about the “big boys”. Elks are big in general, but these few entertaining minutes are devoted to BIG males. There are appearances in this one by some of our favorites, 22, Drop Tine, MisMatch, and a very special appearance near the end by Grumpy.This is the perfect time to talk again about moose dynasties, young bulls coming up, and the cycle of what we’ve been lucky enough to see and understand. In the woods of Maine, I was able to identify many elk, both male and female, and follow them throughout their lives. But I’ve never really delved into understanding the rise and fall of the big males. As we head to Alaska for our eighth moose rut this year, we’re very grateful to have listened to a few friends share their wisdom with us, allowing us to look at the adventure from a broader perspective. Personally, I’ve learned a lot about examining my thoughts and feelings when an old male passes away and being grateful for what I’ve experienced rather than being filled with sadness.We plan to discuss this further, and I hope to pass this reflection on to some of you.
