Start of moose rut 2023 Part 1

Moose lovers welcome! We’ve just entered September and the switch has been flicked – the 2023 rut is on. Once the velvet is removed, you’re ready to go.

As for the live update before today’s video report, we’ve spotted Flat Top, Dagger, TJ, Cowboy, Swagger, Turkey and new males Spot, BB and Turner. Overall, sightings are down and we’re covering more and more kilometers.

It seems Swagger is up to his old tricks again, Libby filming him a few days ago having a hissy fit, lashing out at every bush he could find.

Saturday. This video was filmed a week ago, we had hiked into a new area, and found Dagger fully molted and Flat Top just starting to molt. It was a recipe for exciting and even amusing images.

Dagger was ready to leave, but FT kept telling him he was busy (molting) and had other things to do. There’s much more to this story than today’s video, and we encourage you to join us for future videos to see how it all unfolded.
