Descriptions:
Did you know? There are mullets (of the genus Epioblasma) that literally capture the host fish and hold it captive for some time! The video shows a pot-bellied Epioblasma (Epioblasma torulosa rangiana) capturing a stinger. The female exposes a white mass to attract the fish, which, once approached, sees the shells close in on itself. The fish is held by its head and the mullet literally pumps larvae into its mouth.© Chris Barnhart and Bill Roston.Intrigued?
