It was before the start of the rut (remember, we always consider the start of the rut to be when the velvet leaves). We found Van Gogh and Curly out for a walk to start the day, and what sticks in my mind is how calm it was to watch them. That morning, peace reigned. They were feeding and preparing to shed their velvet over the coming days. Van Gogh hung out with 22 later that morning, 22 wanted to train, Van Gogh couldn’t because he was still in velvet.Curly went off alone to bed and relax….A few weeks later, Van Gogh had disappeared (he’s been located since we left), and Curly turned up with the right pallet of his antler broken off. The moose rut is active and usually affects every animal in one way or another. Good day to all. And stay tuned for another fun-filled Sunday that will change our routine starting tomorrow.
