Wild turkey burger

Wild turkey burger. Our best turkey burger recipe is easy to prepare and surprisingly similar to a McDonald’s McChicken sandwich! And it’s one of the best meals to prepare for those who have never eaten game. See recipe and instructions below.

Ingredients

  • 1 large turkey breast (skinless and boneless, partially frozen)
  • 1/4 – 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs (plus extra if necessary)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 4-5 hamburger buns with sesame seeds
  • Oil (sunflower or canola)
  • Butter
  • S&P
  • Mayo
  • Iceberg lettuce (diced)
  • Lemon juice
  • French fries

Directions

1. Cut turkey meat into 1- to 2-inch cubes, trying to remove as much sinew as possible.2. Grind meat using the widest grind setting.3. Season ground meat with S&P, paprika and breadcrumbs. Mix with your hands, without over-mixing, ensuring that all ingredients are evenly incorporated. The meat should be a little sticky but not wet. If too damp, add a little more breadcrumbs.4. Once done, divide the meat into baseball-sized balls. You should get about 4-5 balls from a large/mature turkey breast.5. Dice the lettuce, sprinkle with fresh lemon juice and toss well. This will not only give the salad a kick, but also prevent it from browning.6. Heat a plancha (or cast-iron skillet) over medium-high heat. Once up to temperature, add a little oil and place the turkey meatballs on the hot plate. You should hear a nice sizzling sound; if not, the temperature isn’t high enough. After placing the dumplings on the baking sheet, crush them with spatulas. This will ensure maximum contact between the meat and the surface, which will help to brown the meatballs and give them more flavour.7. Cook the burgers for a few minutes, and you’ll notice that the edges start to fade, which is a sign to turn them over. Cook for a few more minutes, until the meat is golden brown. Do not move the meat unless you obtain uneven browning.8. Butter the inside of the hamburger buns and lightly brown them on the griddle, looking for a light golden brown..9. Spread a generous amount of mayo on both toasted buns, season with S & P. On the bottom bun, place a generous amount of lettuce, season the lettuce with a little S & P and another squirt of lemon juice. Then place the cooked turkey burger on the lettuce and assemble the burger. A side of fries or asparagus is perfect for this dish.#savory #food #recipe
