Wildlife OnVideo The elk rut at its peak
High ratio of large males to females in an area nature at the height of the elk rut. The bulls came out all over the place during this short period, and the dynamics were amazing to watch. The sheriff had no trouble asserting his dominance among all these incredible bulls, but there was also plenty of success between other bulls and cows. A lot of energy was spent training and protecting small herds along and in the Athabasca River. The two days were filled not only with fighting, bugling, herding and mating, but also with elk rutting behavior never seen before. We left all the original sounds on, allowing us to hear the intensity of everything we could see, but also everything we could hear. Many of these images of the elk rut include a manual digital zoom at dusk… thank you for your patience.
